How to play melodies in key on the MPC Sample

Sixteen pads are perfect for drums, but melodies are easier when every pad is a note of your scale. This is how to set that up for the MPC Sample.

One sound, pitched 16 times

A scale kit is one sound copied to 16 pads, each pitched to the next note of a scale. Pick a pentatonic scale and it is almost impossible to hit a wrong note.

Build it

In the kit maker choose a key and scale, then load a sound. Padhead detects its pitch and tunes each pad for you. No sound yet? Make one in the sound generator.

A bank per part

Use one bank for keys, one for bass, one for a lead. All banks share the key, so everything you play fits together. A bank can also play chords from the scale instead of single notes.
