How to load a custom kit on the MPC Sample

A kit made in Padhead is a folder with an .xpj project and a [ProjectData] folder full of WAV files. Here is how to get it onto your MPC Sample.

1. Export and unzip

Export your kit from the kit maker or the sample chopper. You get a zip file. Unzip it and keep the folder together: the .xpj file and the [ProjectData] folder belong side by side.

2. Copy it to the SD card

Connect the MPC Sample to your computer and switch it to SD card access with SHIFT + pad 16. Copy the whole kit folder to the card.

3. Open it on the MPC

Eject the card, then on the MPC go to Load, open the kit folder, pick the .xpj and choose Load Kit. For projects with recorded takes use Load Project.

4. Play

Every pad is ready to play. Melodic banks are already in your key, so you can play melodies without tuning pads by hand.

If a kit does not load

Every pad is also saved as a plain, already tuned WAV in [ProjectData]. Load it through Sample Select like any other sample. The tempo of a chopped loop is set by the loop BPM. Still stuck? Write to info@padhead.com.
